Friedens Community Ministries hosted its first ever Bowl-a-Thon called "Strike Out Hunger" at AMF Bowlero on 117th and Burleigh. A great crowd of 77 folks showed up to help raise money and have a great time. Free T Shirts were provided to all the participants as well as pizza and soda. AMF provided the shoes to all the bowlers free of charge.
Trophies were awarded for high individual and team bowlers. High bowler for the day was Rick Ronge with an average of 205. Second place went to Eric Buffham with an average of 184 and third place went to Brian Hey with an average of 167. First place in team competition went to went to the team of Amanda and Will Frazer Collins, Donna, Jennifer and Jessica Skenadore and Kari Thomas. Second Place in team competition went to Bob and Judi Free, Judy Huck, Joann Richards and Karen Francisco. Third place in team competition went to the family team of Timothy , Patrick, Daniel and Mike Brever.
50/50 raffles and a tv raffle added to the fun. Almost $1600 was raised to help Friedens feed the hungry in the greater Milwaukee area. Given the cost of food we purchase, and the amount of food we distribute to each family that comes to one of our three pantries, Strike Out Hunger will help us feed 320 families for a three to five day period of time.
Our thanks to all who came or donated to this great event. Return to this website in the months ahead to learn about Strike Out Hunger II, coming in 2013.
